REP HOYLE CELEBRATES NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP MONTH
For Immediate Release: November 22, 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Val Hoyle (D-OR) released the following statement in celebration of National Apprenticeship Week:
“National Apprenticeship Week gives us the opportunity to celebrate Registered Apprenticeships programs across the country. Apprenticeship and workforce training programs are critical to fill our workforce needs. Every employer I visited needs workers. And, with 50% of today’s jobs needing more than a high school degree and less than a college degree, the Registered Apprenticeship model helps young people get the training they so they have a pathway to middle class jobs without incurring mountains of debt.”
Representative Hoyle has championed Registered Apprenticeships in Congress.
- She helped introduce the LEAP Act, which would provide a $1,500 federal tax credit for business that hire apprentices from Registered Apprenticeship programs.
-
She pushed for language in the Water Resources Development Act of 2024 that ensured apprenticeship programs are used in certain water projects.
-
She cosponsored the National Apprenticeship Act, which provides $3.85 billion over 5 years to increase access to Registered Apprenticeships, youth apprenticeships, and pre-apprenticeships.
-
She cosponsored the Apprenticeship Hubs Across America Act, which would help expand apprenticeship hubs to link employers and apprentices.
-
She requested robust funding to support federal workforce programs under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and the National Apprenticeship Act.
